What is Firebase?

Firebase is a powerful tool which helps small and big business to grow. It provides a lot of services that can be used with any technology. Integrating Firebase services in any project is like a piece of cake.

Many clients and developers out there still struggle to create a Firebase project. But in reality, creating a Firebase project requires NO TECHNICAL skills.

Today we will be learning how anyone can create a Firebase project.

Steps to Create a Project

1. Firstly one should have a valid Gmail account. If you don’t have please go and create one.

2. Open the Firebase Console and click on Create a project.

3. It will take you to a screen where you have to enter the project name. Enter the project name, accept the terms, and provide consent. Once done click on the Continue button.

Note: The project name should be identical to your app or product name so you can easily distinguish the project by its name.

4. Next, you must enable or disable Google Analytics for the project. It will help you to keep track of events and user engagement within your app. Once done click on the Continue button.

5. If you have enabled Google Analytics in the previous step then on the next screen it will ask you to select analytics location which you can select based on your country or region. Then accept the terms and click on the Create project button.

6. Your project creation will start and it will take a few seconds. On completion, your screen will look like the below where you have to click on the Continue button. The continue button will take you to the dashboard page.

7. Next time whenever you come to Firebase Console it will show all of your created projects as shown in the below image.

Dashboard Overview

1. Your project dashboard will look like this initially.

From the left side panel, you can select the services that you want to use and enable for your product. Services are categorized into four parts: Build, Release and monitor, Analytics, and Engage. Just expand the category and see the services.

You can connect your apps with the created project by clicking on the iOS, Android, Web, Unity, and Flutter buttons.

2. A few of the services like Database, Storage, etc require you to enable billing as the usage of the app increases. You can do that by switching to the Blaze plan from the Spark plan.

3. Check your project’s general settings by clicking on the Settings icon in front of the Project Overview.

4. You can check your Cloud Messaging settings for the current project as shown in the below image.

5. If you want to integrate any third-party services to your project you can do that under the Integration tab.

Google Analytics is enabled as I have enabled that while creating the project.

6. To provide access to your project to your developers or testers you have to go to the Users and Permissions tab and click on the Add member button.

Clicking the Add member button will open a dialog where you have to enter the email id and select the role. You can provide custom roles by selecting the Assign Firebase role(s) radio button.

In this way, you can create a Firebase project and have a basic idea about the project dashboard.
